Rhyl Storm

In December 2013 Britain was hit by a severe storm. The north Wales coast was among the regions badly affected and this short clip was filmed by Mr and Mrs Lager from outside the back door of their house about 11.00 in the morning. Two hours later they and all their neighbours were evacuated when the water coming over the sea wall broke down a retaining wall and flooded their street.

We apologise for the poor quality of the accompanying sound, but it does give a good indication of just how strong the wind was at the time.

The second film is from 2019, when Storm Brendan pummelled the coast. Prestatyn prom, normally a peaceful walkway twenty feet above the golden sand where children play and pretty girls sunbathe, was buried under several feet of angry water as waves lashed the sea wall and filled the car parks. An impressive display of nature's power.
