Our first film in this area is an introduction to Tibetan culture, based on an exhibition touring Britain in 2003. I was fascinated by the sand painting and intrigued by the odd metal object the pretty girl had hanging at her waist. The butter sculptures were cool as well.

The "More info" link takes you to Amazon where you can purchase Heinrich Harrer's Seven Years in Tibet, a fascinating tale of adventure and daring in Tibet. It is a classic of adventure literature and is well worth reading. Beware, however, of the film of the book: like anything Hollywood touches, it distorts the story almost beyond recognition.
