I've never been in the Czech Republic before, but even so training from infancy kept me wanting to refer to it as "Czechoslovakia", the name of the country before what I believe to have been a misguided and disadvantageous split. To their credit, it was carried out peacefully, but we were horrified to see, in what we had always understood to be a relatively prosperous country, young girls lining the roads offering somewhat frozen delights for a monetary recompense - it was very early spring at the time!
Still, the country is delightful and the architecture stunning. Prices are still cheap and the countryside still unspoilt. Do go and visit the Czech Republic and its neighbour, Slovakia - but remember, if you see a girl thumbing a lift by the side of the road, keep driving.
