Once upon a time the Grand Bazaar was the hub of Istanbul's economic life, the place where people went to do their shopping. Today it is a tourist trap and if you want a tap washer or a ligh bulb you have to go elsewhere. However it still retains its fascinating setting and the shop keepers are far less pushy than in other places I have visited. Indeed, as you will see in this film, some of them have a very keen sense of humour indeed!
The "More info" button takes you to a book I have not read, but if you are interested in the history of this fascinating area of Istanbul you may find it useful.
